Rio Tinto Minerals - 5 & 6 Tailings Pond Earthwork

 

CSW completed the Boric Acid Pond (BAP) 5 and 6 Tailing Ponds for Rio Tinto Minerals in southern California. BAP 6 was a new pond covering 35 acres, while BAP 5 was the modification of an existing pond. CSW raised the earth embankment around BAP 5 by 3’ and installed a k-rail barrier.
  • 242,000 SY - Subgrade Preparation
  • 569,000 CY - BAP-6 Embankment Fill
  • 184,000 SY - Clay Liner (46,200 CY)
  • 4,900 LF - Excavation and Backfill Anchor Trenches
  • 100 LF - Install 18" Diameter SDR-17 HDPE Pipe (overflow piping)
  • Leachate Collection System (piping, gravel trench, geo textile)
